Dear Friends, בס”ד
We would like to thank everyone for your prayers and donations for the Community Sefer Torah. As of today the writing of the Sefer Torah is nearing its completion. We are just $5,000 away from celebrating the completion and hachnasa of our Sefer Torah.
From the holiday in Iyar, Pesach Sheini, we learn that there is always a second chance. It is possible to do one more mitzvah and hasten the coming of Moshiach. Together we can complete our Community Sefer Torah in honor of the imminent and speedy recovery of Sashie Levertov (Sasha bas Bluma). After the bone marrow transplant Sashi is feeling much better B”H ברוך השם .
According to Sefer Yetzirah, each month of the Jewish calendar corresponds to a letter of the Hebrew alphabet, a zodiac sign, one of the twelve tribes of Israel, a sense, and a certain limb of the body. Iyar (commonly spelled אִיָיר , after the Aramaic) is the second of the twelve months of the Jewish calendar. In the Tanach the month of Iyar is called the month of Ziv (זִיו ) which means “radiance.” The name Iyar is also cognate with the word for “light” (אוֹר ). In addition, the month of Iyar is commonly referred to as the month of HEALING since its name is an acronym for “I am God your Healer” ( אֲנִי י־הוה רֹפְאֶ ך ) (Exodus 15:26).
We are still in need of $5,000,Please help us to reach our goal.
The following opportunities are available:
Letter – $1; Word – $18; Possuk – $100; Aliya – $500; Sidrah – $1800; Birkat Kohanim $3600; Chumash – $5400.
In the merit of this great mitzvah, may we all enjoy peace, health and nachas. May we share in many simchas together and continue to be united as one nation.

Friends of Sashie
As you may know, Sashie (Hebrew name: Sasha) Levertov has been diagnosed with leukemia. Sashie is 28 years old. She is the loving wife of Rabbi Moshe Levertov and the devoted mother of four children, the youngest of whom is only nine months old. She is involved in many community activities: she has been the director of the Preschool and Kindergarten for the past several years. She also runs several programs at Chabad of Phoenix, including Bat Mitzvah and Beyond for young teenage girls and Loaves of Love, a challah “bake and gift” program in memory of the victims of Mumbai. Sashie began a regimen of chemotherapy in an attempt to combat the disease. It is of course a difficult regimen, but Baruch Hashem Sashie maintains good spirits and an upbeat attitude, trusting in Hashem to aid in her healing.
On Sunday, January 29th, many of us joined in saying Tehillim / Psalms to pray for Shashie’s speedy recovery. We completed the entire Tehillim three times. We continue to have her in our thoughts and we say Tehillim for her daily.
We feel it is important for all of us to do something special to show Hashem how much we want to hasten Sashie’s recovery. Many of us believe that it would be meaningful and helpful if the entire Jewish community of Arizona gathered together to create a Sefer Torah for this purpose.
The act of uniting for such a beautiful mitzvah will surely create waves of mercy in Heaven. We hope Sashie will recover quickly while the Sefer Torah is being written.
In order to make this an all-inclusive project, we ask that each of you contribute a very modest amount toward this project – from $1.00 to as much as you wish.
Letter $1, Word $18, Possuk $100, Aliya $500, Sidrah $1800, Bierkat Kohanim $3600
